Description ------------------------- Blender 2.46 release by nutty.ca ---------------- August 2, 2008 Purpose This release is targeted for cinematographers that record video in HDV format. Some camcorders have problems with recording P24 by inserting "dumb" frames in order to make it compliant with the HDV format (ie: 30 frames per second). In this case, one has two options. One could apply pulldown removal to restore the 24fps video and resave it in another compressed format, or one could bypass all that time and just use AVISynth to provide the output on the fly. Thus you keep the original footage in its prime quality and just serve the new output to your liking. Finally, you could also use AVISynth to deinterlace videos using high quality techniques such as the bob-filter approach. Support for AVISynth in blender can save countless video editing hours. See the "avisynth" folder for a sample AVISynth script. It is designed to be configured easily and quickly apply pulldown removal or deinterlace videos. I use it to serve my Canon HDV20 videos. About this build This is an optimized Windows compiled release. This version of Blender contains additional support for loading video files with the AVISynth frameserver via the FFMPEG library. In addition, the standard Blender sequencer plugins have been compiled. And finally, I have included my luaBlender sequencer plugin for those who would like to use the power of Lua to create special video effects in blender. Sometimes it really is easier to just apply an image effect by supplying the formula directly rather than hacking around with other plugins and features. The code was compiled in Microsoft's Visual Studio 2008 Express edition with full optimizations enabled. Enjoy.

Wow! Thank you so much. I'm still discovering about Blender's sequencer, but glad that there's some AVISynth support. Does anyone have any tutorials, documents, or guides, showing how to add videos through AVISynth. Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris. To load the AVISynth scripts, open them as you would a normal movie file. That is, go into the Blender Sequencer, click on the "Add", then "Movie + Audio (HD)", and select the .avs file. See the sample AVS script provided as an example.

In time, I plan to do a full set of tutorials and even add new features to improve the Blender Sequencer experience. I'll be announcing it on my website when I'm ready.

Awesome. Thanks, TheNut. Can't wait to try out AVISynth and hope to see your tutorials in the future.
